Tonight, in the halo of the Galaxy, we observe variable carbon-enhanced metal-poor stars. These stars preserve chemical signatures of past stellar nucleosynthesis. We will use the WiFeS instrument in order to estimate accurate abundances of several elements. By doing so, we will determine how the first generations of stars produced the elements that surround us.
