Brief description (ARC/NHMRC Research Network in Genes and Environment in Development) The NGED will deliver significant national economic and social benefits through its alignment with national research priorities in health, is of direct relevance to the livestock industry and closely aligned with two of Australia's national research priority goals - "a healthy start to life" and "preventive healthcare". Through targeted programs of post-graduate training and exchange, the NGED will allow more effective utilisation of Australia's investment in research facilities. Answers to the major research questions undertaken by researchers within the Network will be translated into national benefits through more rapid and effective uptake of new insights by end-users.
