Brief description By developing state-of-the-art stellar atmosphere and evolution models, we will answer some of the key outstanding questions in stellar astrophysics: 1. How are magnetic fields manifested in stars? 2. How are stars affected by convection? 3. How are oscillations excited in stars? 4. How old are the most ancient stars in the Milky Way? Along the way, we will make obsolete the free parameters that have hampered stellar modelling for the past half-century. Our unique stellar models will provide rich legacy resources for countless studies in modern astronomy and provide the necessary theoretical underpinning for ambitious Australian-led Milky Way surveys (e.g. GALAH, SkyMapper) and international satellite missions (e.g. Kepler, TESS, PLATO).
