Brief description The objective is to contribute to the formation of community between people with diverse cultural commitments by revealing how value and meaning is constructed within communities, for which the attribution of meaning to art provides an analogy. This project targets the way artistic value and meaning are attributed to particular artworks. The novelty and innovation are in developing a medium (involving a website and imagery) through which the expertise of philosophers and artists can be brought to bear upon a social problem. Organising principles include the role of imaginative constructs in motivating ethical or socially orientated behaviour and the under-determination of meaning and value in the perceptible features of cultural artefacts.
