Dr Maria Seton (nee Sdrolias) is an Australian Postdoctoral Fellow within the School of Geosciences at the University of Sydney. Dr Seton is also a member of the EarthByte Group.
Dr Seton's research interests are in the field of marine geophysics and geodynamics, in particular examining the links between plate tectonic and mantle processes. Dr Seton is also interested in the kinematic controls on subduction and back-arc basin formation and the relationship between tectonics and palaeo-climate and tectonics and ore-deposit formation. Dr Seton completed her PhD at the University of Sydney in 2005 on the mechanisms behind back-arc basin formation.
